RENAULT KADJAR PHASE 2

Renault Australia has confirmed that its mid-size SUV, the Kadjar, will be launched in Australia in the second half of 2019. Speaking at the launch of the all-new Megane R.S. last week, Andrew Moore, the managing director of Renault Australia, told us, “Our ambition for Renault Australia is to become a strong player in the SUV segment. We’ve already seen success in the popular SUV space with our top-selling Koleos and Captur and our intention is that in the future we will have an SUV that perfectly matches the various… Read more

Renault’s latest hot-hatch is the Megane R.S. 280, a full on sprits machine which is now in its third generation. It has the latest in powertrain technology, chassis tuning and aerodynamic assist. This is a serious machine that’s aimed at the keen driver who wants to get the best from their motoring life. RENAULT KOLEOS S-EDITION

The Renault Koleos range is becoming increasingly popular in the Australian market segment that’s becoming increasingly crowded. So it makes sense for the importer of these French SUVs to introduce a special edition that is tagged – without a great deal of imagination – the Koleos S-Edition. The Koleos S-Edition is based on the top-specification Renault Koleos Intens and is sold only with a two wheel driver powertrain. It rides on 19-inch alloys as used on the exclusive Initiale Paris versions sold overseas. Metallic black door mirror housings add a… Read more

KOLEOS KICKS ON IN FIELD OF SAFETY

When the tsunami of sports utility vehicles started hitting shores around the globe, Renault, in fear of being swamped by the fast expanding market, called on a partner to help fill the gap. The French automobile giant, already in an alliance with Nissan, was able to morph its Koleos crossover into a mid-size SUV using the Japanese company’s X-Trail as a base. Lucky for us, Australia was the first market to receive the new SUV, which was to become Renault’s best-selling vehicle Down Under. Now the MY18 Koleos has been… Read more

LATE DELIVERY GIVES RENAULT VAN AN AUTOMATIC SHIFT UP

In danger of being left behind, the Renault Kangoo Maxi has finally joined the light van convoy of the likes of the Citroen Berlingo, Fiat Doblo and Volkswagen Caddy with the addition of an automatic transmission. This will be good news for the Kangoo driver, who until now has spent his or her time constantly shifting gear in heavy traffic or hilly going. I continue to take my hat off to the city van driver, who until now and the auto upgrade, deserved better. The Kangoo Maxi 1.5 turbo-diesel on… Read more

ALPINE A110 IS ALL FRENCH FLAIR

An exciting new sportscar marque is about to land in Australia. The very French Alpine A110 is a high-performance coupe that’s built by a division of Renault, but operates largely in its own right. Alpine (say it a French accent, ‘al-peen’ and it sounds beautifully evocative) dates back to the 1950s and has made some fascinating sports machines. The first A110 model came out in 1961, ran for 16 years and had victories in many events, including the Monte Carlo rallies in the 1970s Alpine A110 harks back to the… Read more

RENAULT 4CV

Through many trials and tribulation, Louis Renault became the leading French car manufacturer, triumphing over Andre Citroen during the 1920s. As early as 1900, Renaults had adopted a sloping coal scuttle bonnet which became a distinguishing mark of the company’s products. The engines ranged from a 1.1-litre two-cylinder through a quartet of fours of 2.1 to 7.4 litres, followed in 1908 by a 9.5-litre six. Except for the taxi-orientated twins, the emphasis was on prestige until World War I. Following that war, Renault offered three updated fours, accounting for most… Read more

RENAULT KOLEOS UPGRADES

All Renault Koleos models are now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via the R-Link 2 navigation system. This enables smartphone replication on the infotainment display. Thankfully Renault Australia has also announced that the Koleos range now comes as standard with Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) to look after the driver who is more interested in communication than paying attention to the road. The automatic braking works in two phases. The first phase alerts the driver to an imminent collision risk and prompting them to slow down or avoid… Read more
