RANGE ROVER EVOQUE REVIEW

New Range Rover Evoque looks like an Evoque. Perhaps this sounds like a daft statement. But let’s check the history of the Evoque; despite the opinions of those who first saw the original Evoque preview models at motor shows that it would never sell it did – close to 800,000 left the showrooms. The latest Evoque is built on a modular platform and has a stiffer body than the Evoque 1 to provide improved ride comfort, refinement and longevity. STYLING Evoque’s stylish design changes with the new model have been… Read more

DYNAMIC DRIVE TO TOP OF THE ‘RANGE’

That streaming juggernaut Game of Thrones may have gone the way of other small-screen sensations such as Star Trek but not all turf wars have been won. Even in the hard-pushed automotive industry, European SUV makers continue to go hammer and tongs for the upper-luxury crown. The battle for the luxury sports utility vehicle market has recently been joined by the British ‘crown jewel’ – Queen Elizabeth has one – the SV Autobiography, which sits on the Range Rover throne. A creation of the Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations in… Read more

NEW RANGE ROVER EVOQUE NOW ON SALE

Launched in London late last year with all the glitz and glamour associated with the Range Rover brand, the new second-generation Evoque compact SUV has now arrived in Australia. Given the popularity of the original Evoque’s stylish design changes with the new model have been kept to a minimum with a number of elements brought over from its larger sibling the Velar including flush-mounted door handle that give Evoque a cleaner, smoother shape. It retains the distinctive coupe-like silhouette, rising waistline, pronounced shoulders and powerful wheelarches and large wheels that… Read more

RANGE ROVER GETS NEW ENGINE OPTION

Range Rover will soon be offered with a new high-tech Ingenium 3.0-litre straight-six engine. This unit, called Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV), is cleaner, uses less fuel and provides immediate power delivery. Its electric supercharger delivers virtually immediate boost by spooling in half a second to 65000rpm and coordinates with the twin-scroll turbocharger, to virtually eliminate turbo lag. NEW GENERATION RANGE ROVER EVOQUE

Where else would you choose to reveal the new Range Rover Evoque but in London’s ultra creative East End? British activist and model Adwoa Aboah wore a specially commissioned dress designed by Ashley Williams, crafted using the Evoque’s suede-cloth textile. This interior textile is made from recycled polyester microfibres, from items such as plastic bottles; in fact the equivalent of 53 plastic bottles go into each vehicle specified with these seats. And British luxury brand Mulberry has created a travel collection specifically for the new Evoque. The Weekender bag is… Read more

HIGH-POWER DIESEL FOR RANGE ROVER SPORT

If you’re going to sell a vehicle with Sport in its title then customers will demand plenty of performance. So the Australian importer of the Range Rover Sport has announced that it will stop importing the four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine and replace it with a new design V6 3.0-litre twin-turbo unit. At the same time the Rangie Sport also sees the introduction of Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go function. This maintains a set distance from the vehicle in front and to follow it to a stop and pull… Read more

RANGE ROVER EVOQUE 2011 – 2016

2011 Range Rover Evoque five-door

Range Rover Evoque, launched Downunder in October 2011 is a stylish SUV that can tackle moderately tough conditions when in its all-wheel drive variant. It’s also sold with two-wheel drive, which can be used on forest trails and the like as ground clearance is the same as AWD models. We wouldn’t take one to a beach, though. Evoque looks like it has a very low roof, but that’s a clever illusion. While the roof certainly slopes down at the rear, the angle is not as steep as it seems as… Read more

2018 RANGE ROVER VELAR TURBO-DIESEL

Land Rover has added another model to its already expansive range. The Range Rover Velar sits neatly in the gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. Velar debuts Range Rover’s latest Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, with two high-definition 10-inch touchscreens. More about this in a moment. Naturally the Velar follows Range Rover’s long tradition of having a light, stiff, aluminium-intensive body. Keeping weight down not only gives even better off-road performance, but also makes it feel more agile around town and as a bonus it… Read more
