PEUGEOT 504

The first Peugeot family member mentioned in history was Jean-Jacques Peugeot (1699-1741). His two grandsons founded a steel foundry in France in 1810, which is still today supplying the steel used in Peugeot cars. As early as 1885 Armand Peugeot had built several bicycles and later designed a steam driven quadricycle. A little later on he built one of the first petrol-driven vehicles with a V-shaped twin cylinder engine producing 8 horsepower. In 1921 Peugeot introduced the 201, the first production car with independent front suspension. In fact, over the… Read more

PEUGEOT 3008 2010 – 2020

Peugeot is one of the world’s oldest car makers, dating back to the late 1890s. It’s a huge company in France and many other countries but hasn’t had the success in Australia it deserves. Peugeot was a slow starter in the SUV field, believing it look would be a passing fad. However, it eventually realised these practical vehicles made sense and the 3008 was launched in France in early 2010. Its styling is a crossover between the hard edged 4WDs and a classy looking wagon and it has launched Downunder… Read more

PEUGEOT 2008 GT SPORT

Peugeot 2008 GT Sport is a small-medium SUV that leans in the direction of medium. The 2008 designation (which Peugeot prefers to call two-thousand eight rather than two double-oh eight) means that it’s an SUV rather than a tall hatchback. It’s not a GT or a Sport in the true sense of these labels, but it does have slightly firmer suspension and a different steering feel that will appeal to those who like to drive. STYLINGThe French are seemingly incapable of designing a car that doesn’t look great. The front… Read more

PEUGEOT 508 2011 – 2020

The first models in the Peugeot 508 range were launched in Australia in July 2011. They replaced two cars, the Peugeot 407 and 607. Smart designing meant the 508 weighed less than the smaller Peugeot 407 as well as the significantly larger 607. It was offered as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon. The sedan’s boot is one of the largest in the business. The wagon is large and spacious, though at the time when many buyers were trending towards SUVs it didn’t have the sales numbers anticipated. Peugeot… Read more

2021 PEUGEOT 2008 REVIEW

Peugeot 2008 is the smallest of the three SUV models from the French carmaker and the first to feature the new multi-faceted grille that now headlines its larger 3008 and 5008 siblings. Three variants are available, Allure, GT and GT Sport. STYLINGWe love the shared styling of the Peugeot SUVs especially the new large grille flanked by spectacular long, lightning bolt DRLs on either side. The 2008 Allure has a fairly conservative horizontal grille structure when compared to the lion’s claw vertical design of the GT and GT Sport. All… Read more

PEUGEOT 205 GTI

With the introduction of the 205 Peugeot set itself the challenge of producing from scratch a small hatchback which would stand out in a crowd. Not only did they achieve this but they created one with such street cred that it became a cult car almost overnight. Such an achievement was quite remarkable. Introduced in 1983, a total of 2.74 million cars were produced during its production life. Most remarkable of all is that it was Peugeot that achieved this, not Volkswagen or arch rival Renault. Suddenly, it seemed, Peugeot… Read more

PEUGEOT 5008 IS A VERSATILE SUV / PEOPLE MOVER CROSSOVER

The Peugeot 5008 is the largest of the French company’s three SUV models ahead of the compact 2008 and the mid-sized 3008. It’s a seven-seater that’s mainly aimed at the top end Japanese and Korean models although Peugeot is also keen to tackle the prestige Europeans; Audi, BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes. To this end only the higher-specced GT variant has been brought here. STYLINGWith its relatively long low profile the 5008 is best described as an SUV / People Mover crossover. Indeed, the first version was tagged as an MPV… Read more
