MITSUBISHI TRITON GLS 4X4 DUAL CAB UTE

Watching the Olympics, it’s all about who gets the gold. No one remembers anyone beyond the top three placings and so it goes with utes and the Australian new car market. Ranger is the gold medalist, with a clear lead, followed by Hilux with the silver and the D-Max with the bronze. Also-rans include the Mitsubishi Triton, back for a sixth crack at the record but still sitting a fair way back in fourth position out of medal contention. Although its redesigned front now carries the Mitsubishi name, it doesn’t… Read more

The current Triton dates back to 2015, but was facelifted in 2019, with changes to front and rear designs – and was the last version that we drove. There’s an all-new Triton on the way, due for launch later this month overseas, and that means clearing… Read more

DOIN’ THE TRITON TWO-STEP

The Triton tapped danced up and down the concrete ‘boards’ of the motorway, leaving occupants shakin’ all over. Thankfully, this was no polka: ‘three-sixties’ here would have been well out of order. On minor-road bitumen the terpsichorean bobbing up and down stepped aside for the GSR dual cab ute to settle for the odd bounce when encountering surface blemishes. Let’s face it, most utes exhibit some degree of rodeo riding. However, there is work to be done here. The new Triton is a relative late comer to the dual cab… Read more
