Nissan has introduced the Juke Nismo RS to Australia, joining the ultra-hot Nissan GT-R and the old-style Nissan 370Z Nismo.

Nismo, an abbreviation of Nissan Motorsport, adds upgraded engine performance, handling and aerodynamics for those who like excitement in their motoring life.

Juke Nismo RS is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged high-pressure direct-injection petrol engine with 160kW of power and 280Nm of torque for the six-speed manual. The CVT automatic tops out with 157kW of power and 250Nm of torque.

These are achieved by optimising the engine control unit (ECU) settings and a revised exhaust system with a larger main tune diameter and revised baffling.

The engine’s connecting rod durability has also been improved for use with higher torque settings on the manual transmission, along with a strengthened clutch cover and dual mass flywheel.

Juke Nismo RS manual has a shorter final drive ratio for harder acceleration. A limited slip differential directs more power to the front wheel with the most traction to maintain acceleration during cornering.

The CVT Nissan Xtronic system has eight step gearing, up from the six-step standard system.

Body and chassis reinforcements increase the Juke rigidity, steering precision and response.

Stopping power comes from vented discs on all wheels, larger 12.6 inch front brake rotors, red-painted calipers and upgraded brake pads.

Nissan Juke Nismo RS has an aero body package with more aggressive front and rear bumpers, as well as side skirts and roof spoiler. There’s also a rear diffuser, red mirror caps and red detail lines. A Nismo front grille and RS badging complete the exterior package.

Inside, the Juke Nismo RS features a leather-accented shift knob and leather and Alcantara steering wheel with red stitching and the iconic red centre mark. The Nismo suede sports seats with red stitching are a nice touch.

There’s a Nismo RS push button engine start, a red Nismo tachometer and Nismo branded front kick plates and carpet mats.

Built in the Nissan plant in the UK, the Nissan Juke Nismo RS is available in three colours: Pearl, Pearl Black and Platinum.

Only 240 Nissan Juke Nissan RS units are coming to Australia so it might be an idea to move quickly to grab yours.

Prices are $37,790 with the six-speed manual and $41,490 (CVT) plus on-road costs.
