NISSAN X-TRAIL ST+

It’s been way too long since I last drove a Nissan X-Trail. After they introduced the CVT transmission, I kinda lost interest. But somewhere along the way, I’m happy to say, the X-Trail got its mojo back — the latest one ain’t half bad. And, with an all-new model about to lob, my timing was perfect because now I can’t wait to see where they’ve gone with it. Prices for X-Trail start from $30,665 for the five-seat ST manual with a 2.0-litre engine. Standard kit includes cloth trim, manual adjust… Read more

NISSAN X-TRAIL 2007 – 2020

Nissan X-Trail has been a popular 4WD / SUV in Australia for many years. It is well built and has a very good reputation for reliability. We will review models from the second generation, launched in November 2007 onwards. These were larger than their honourable ancestors and can carry four adults in comfort. Three children and two parents is a typical load. Those with seven seats, sold from the third generation in 2014, are pretty cramped in the back and are really only good for the kids. In fact, kids… Read more

DATSUN 240Z

. The Japanese car manufacturer Datsun commenced car production by assembling Austin cars under licence. The Datsun 1000 was nothing more than an A40 with a body redesign. Datsun first entered the USA sportscar market in the mid-1960s with the 1600 Sports as well as 2.0-litre models but their entrants were very conventional and soon became dated. In the market place their robust but basic engines and stark two-seater styling failed to capture the hearts of the American motorist. The company realised, however, that the American market offered enormous potential… Read more

NISSAN PATROL Ti-L REVIEW

Like a couple of Sumo wrestlers from their native Japan, Toyota LandCruiser and Nissan Patrol have been grappling with each other for more than 70 years. The SUV (Sports Utility) tag really doesn’t fit these two giants, they are old-style, off- roading 4WDs. They’re right up-to-date in terms of engineering and safety but lag behind in technology, although in the case of the latest LandCruiser that has been addressed with the new 300 Series. The latest, sixth generation, Patrol has been here since late 2019 with a minor upgrade for… Read more
