MASERATI LEVANTE IS A GENUINE OFF-ROADER

When Maserati invited me to spend a full day at Sydney MotorSport Park (nee Eastern Creek Raceway) I looked forward to fun times blasting around the tricky 4.5km road track. Which I did… What I didn’t expect was having fun at crawling speeds in a brace of Maserati Levante 4WDs. Yes, I’ve used the term 4WD here, Levante isn’t just a pretty on-road station wagon, it leans so much in the direction of capable SUV that I’ve granted it my personal top title of 4WD. This Italian masterpiece tackled serious… Read more

Okay, I’m going to cut straight to the chase in answer the question I’ve been bombarded with, ”Does the new petrol Levante sound like a Maserati?” Yes, it does! There’s something about the purposeful roar of this Maserati-designed Ferrari-built engine that makes all car lovers smile with joy. When Maserati launched its Levante SUV in Australia in 2017 it came only with a diesel engine. At that time all petrol Levantes had the steering wheel on the wrong side for Australia. A silly mistake that has now been rectified. So,… Read more

The Goodwood Festival of Speed has become a favourite location for premiering high-performance cars so it comes as no surprise that Italian sportscar maker Maserati chose it to introduce the Levante GTS, one of the world’s hottest SUVs. MASERATI LEVANTE: FIRST AUSTRALIAN DRIVE

Prestige car buyers are embracing SUVs in a big way. Latest to join the lineup is Italian Maserati with a model tagged Levante. Note, however, that Australia’s Maserati chief, Glen Sealey, regards Levante not as a ‘prestige’ vehicle, but as an ‘exclusive’ one. His reasoning is that the big name Germans and Brits are dabbling in so many low-cost areas, and consequently have lost some of their prestige shine. Sealey says Maserati Levante can step into the gap the others are leaving. Those looking for Italian stye and panache as… Read more
