Geely EX2 a blip on the radar

It’s still six months away but the biggest selling car in China is heading our way.

The Geely EX2 EV has sold more than 400,000 units in the 12 months since its launch, 50,000 of them in one month alone.

In Malaysia, the EX2 is sold by Proton, which is owned by Geely, as the eMas 5.

The all-electric hatch has been on sale since September, 2024 and is targeted at young, first-time buyers.

It will compete against the likes of the BYD’s Atto 1 and Dolphin.

The EX2 sits on the same flexible platform as the Geely EX5 EV and Starray EM-i Super Hybrid.

Geely says the EX2 is designed to elevate urban commuting, combining a playful aesthetic with a tech-driven cabin and comfortable yet nimble drive.

Despite its compact footprint (4135mm x 1805mm x 1580mm), the Geely EX2 demonstrates exceptional use of interior space with over 30 thoughtfully placed storage compartments, including a ‘frunk’ under the bonnet.

Its exterior design incorporates a ‘smile face’ front design, complemented by clean body lines and a selection of pastel exterior colour options.

EX2 is equipped with a 14.6-inch infotainment screen with the Flyme Auto car operating system.

It boasts an 11-in-1 electric drive system, which unifies 11 major devices such as motors, electronic controls and reducers.

The entry-level variant has a 58kW power output with a top speed of 125 km/h.

The more powerful variant delivers 85kW with a top speed of 135 km/h.

Electric range is 310km and 410k respectively, according to Chinese CLTC standards.

EX2 is slated to arrive in the second half of 2026, with more info and the price to follow.
