TOYOTA LANDCRUISER 70 SERIES: MORE COMFORT AND TECHNOLOGY

2016 Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series Single Cab Chassis GXLI would like to start a personal note:
When I got my first job as full-time motoring journalist, with Modern Motor magazine way back in 1984, my initial assignment was to report on the just-released Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series. Now 36 years and a few grey hairs down the track I’m reporting on the latest upgrades to the evergreen 70 Series…

All LandCruiser 70 Series models, in cab-chassis, wagon and the iconic Troop Carrier now provide added creature comforts for hard-core off-road enthusiasts who rely on the 70’s outstanding 4WD capability.

For the first time, all variants in the 4.5-litre V8 turbo-diesel workhorse range have a multimedia system with a rather small 6.1-inch touchscreen that incorporates satellite navigation with voice recognition and Bluetooth connectivity.

Travellers will also appreciate two front USB ports, a 12-Volt accessory power input, a larger smartphone holder and the addition of a cupholder in the passenger- side door bin.

LandCruiser 70 Series keep on keeping on. Once you’re in the great Aussie bush they seem to make up about 50 per cent of all vehicles. Some in much loved condition, others that have led a rough life – but are still going strong and hard, even with too little maintenance.
