HONDA ACCORD FAR FROM JOURNEY’S END

Few vehicles can match the Honda Accord for longevity. On the road in Australia since 1977, the award-winning sedan, now in its eleventh generation, shows no sign of going away anytime soon. Surprisingly, despite it being one of the maker’s most important nameplates, the latest Accord, a petrol-electric hybrid, stands alone in its bid to keep the opposition at bay. In doing so the Accord e:HEV RS – touted as the best Honda Accord ever – claims ‘to deliver an unbeatable combination of style, efficiency, performance and connectivity’. But does… Read more

HONDA CR-V E:HEV RS

The Honda CR-V e:HEV isn’t the Japanese company’s first petrol-electric hybrid. It’s the latest in a long line of hybrids that started with the cutting-edge, two-seat Insight way back in 2001. But the CR-V e:HEV (it’s a mouthful) has a big role to play as Honda fights to find a place in the new order of things that started with the move to SUVs, then the swing to electric vehicles and finally the arrival of the Chinese — in full force. You might say it’s time to shape up or… Read more

NEXT GENERATION HONDA ACCORD ON SALE NOW

Honda Accord has come a long way since it first arrived in Australia in 1977 as, believe it or not, a 1.6-litre three-door hatchback. As well as growing in size over the years Accord has also grown in quality and is now bordering on luxury status but without the luxury price tag of its German rivals. Previous models came with the option of a station wagon body but the SUV invasion quickly put paid to that. Honda has now released details of the latest, 11th generation, Accord. It’s longer and… Read more

HONDA SETS OUT ITS SUV STALL

Honda has shown its hand for the future with a deft shuffle of its SUVs, including the addition of a new model, the ZR-V, slotting in between the present HR-V and CR-V. While the newcomer is different, it does go somewhat to cramping the style of its older siblings. However, Honda assures us that the coming of the all-new CR-V in 2024, as a bigger, more spacious model than at present, will resolve the situation. “The Honda ZR-V is Honda Australia’s first, brand-new core model to be introduced in Australia… Read more

LATEST HONDA CR-V COMES WITH A HYBRID OPTION

Honda Australia has released details of the latest (sixth-generation) version of its long-serving and popular CR-V mid-sized SUV. Due to go on also at the start of September the new CR-V will join the Civic, Accord, HR-V and ZR-V in offering the option of a hybrid powertrain, tagged e:HEV by Honda. The seven variants available from launch will be VTi X, VTi X7, VTi L, VTi L7, VTi L AWD, VTi LX AWD and e:HEV RS. New CR-V will come with a larger body as well as safety and technology… Read more

HONDA HR-V Vi X

Unlike most of its competitors, that have up to five SUVs in their range, Honda currently has just two, the small HR-V and mid-sized CR-V. That’s about to change with a third variant, ZR-V, due for release in a few weeks and which will slot into the space between the other two. This week we’re reviewing the HR-V. When it arrived here in 1999 it was one of the first compact SUVs around and at once set the standard for what has since become one of the fastest growing segments… Read more

HONDA CIVIC e:HEV LX

The name is a tad confusing but the new Honda Civic e:HEV is a conventional petrol- electric hybrid that competes against cars such as the Toyota Corolla hybrid. Launched here in September, 2022 it’s not the first Civic hybrid. The previous model was sold here from 2004 until 2016 when poor sales saw it dropped. Civic e:HEV is the third mainstream Honda model to be offered with an electrified powertrain in the Australian market, following on from HR-V and Accord. A fourth, the all-new ZR-V, will arrive here later this… Read more

HONDA CIVIC e:HEV LX

The Honda Civic e:HEV LX is a petrol/electric hybrid and is the latest model in the long history of electric propulsion in vehicles. The Honda Insight was introduced in 2001 and the Honda NSX supercar was sold in 2017. We drove both of these vehicles at the time of their release and came away impressed. Now it was our time to spend an interesting week in the Civic e:HEV LX and see how the Japanese company has advanced over the years. It’s a fascinating machine in many ways including the… Read more

HYBRID CIVIC MAKES A RETURN

It’s been several years since the Honda Civic range has included a hybrid. But it’s back, as promised, boasting fuel consumption of 4.2L/100km and CO2 emissions of 96 g/km. Oddly, in releasing the car, Honda makes no mention of the fuel or emissions figures — one needs to consult the specifications to extract those details. If those numbers are of interest, then you might also be interested to learn the price, at $55,000 driveaway ($8000 more than the petrol only model). The hybrid Civic e:HEV LX is the second stage… Read more
