BMW X2 Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) is based on the BMW X1’s platform. Original shipments are on their way Downunder and will be in showrooms from March.
At this stage only the front-wheel drive X2 sDrive20i, priced at $55,900 plus on-road charges is being offered in this country. Others are likely to follow, but BMW Australia isn’t providing information at this stage.
Interestingly, the bottom section of the iconic BMW ‘kidney grille’ is wider than the top for the first time – probably signalling a new generation of the grille.
Another styling feature is the return of the C-pillar BMW roundel, made most famous by the legendary E9 Coupe that debuted in 1968. Will we see that on future BMWs? Our feeling is yes.
The interior offers driver-focused orientation, with the instrument cluster featuring Black Panel technology.
‘Alcantara Anthracite cloth’ upholstery is set off nicely by colour-contrast stitching to the centre console and instrument panel.
The standard interior lighting package offers six lighting options for further personalization.
The latest iDrive6 infotainment system has a rather small 6.5-inch touchscreen as standard, a much better 8.8-inch screen is optional – and we feel its likely to receive a tick by most buyers.
BMW Connected+ provides a seamless link between the X2 and smartphones.
The M Sport X package is fitted as standard on Australian imports. At no extra cost you can opt for the M Sport Package. Other packages, at extra cost, include an Innovations Package, Comfort Package, and Style Plus Package.
The X2 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates 141 kW of power and 280 Nm of torque. It’s mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that drives the front wheels.
