LDV_T60_Luxe_Mega_TubLDV Automotive has launched its T60 Luxe Mega Tub in Australia. it has the second longest wheelbase and longest OEM tub in its class – only the RAM 1500 is bigger, and it’s sort-of in a different (larger) class.

The company’s biggest seller is the T60 ute a double-cab with dual-range 4WD that’s powered by a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel.

One problem with dual-cab ute is that the trade-off between rear seat space and tray capacity generally leaves the latter short especially for tradies.

LDV has taken up the challenge with the release of a new T60 variant called Luxe Mega Tub.

Wheelbase is 315mm longer than the standard T60 which provides an extra 275mm on the tray length bringing it to 1800mm.

All T60 variants come with the choice of either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

The T60 Luxe Mega Tub has driveaway prices for ABN holders of $34,990 (manual) and $36,990 (automatic) which is just $1500 more than those of the standard wheelbase Luxe.

The standard T60 models comes in three two trim and equipment versions, PRO for the working pickup, Luxe for the family model and the luxury Trailrider. The top two specs have softer suspension settings than the Pro.

All versions are rated to tow a braked trailer with a mass of up to 3000 kg.

The T60 was awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating in 2017 and the Luxe variant comes with Blind Spot Monitoring, six airbags.

All LDV vehicles come with a five-year / 130,000 km standard warranty together with a 10-year body perforation rust warranty, 24/7 roadside assistance and a loan car program.

“Size matters and by bringing the T60 Luxe Mega Tub to market we’re broadening our offering in the most competitive segment in Australia,” says Dinesh Chinnappa, LDV Automotive General Manager.

“It’s clear owners want a vehicle that blurs the lines between weekend lifestyle and week-day workhorse. The T60 Luxe Mega Tub is the perfect ute to do just that – and a premium of just $1500 over a regular T60 means it’s significantly better value than any other LWB ute in the segment.”

T60 Pro ute: $28,990 (manual), $30,990 (automatic)
T60 Luxe ute: $33,490 (manual), $35,490 (automatic)
T60 Luxe Mega Tub ute: $34,990 (manual), $36,990 (automatic)
T60 Trailrider ute: $36,990 (manual), $38,990 (automatic)
Note: These are driveaway prices.
