BMW 4 SERIES COUPE

BMW Australia will introduce the all-new BMW 4 Series Coupé to our market in October. Style-wise it reprises a design feature from the company’s past with models such as the BMW 328 and BMW 3.0 CSi. A huge kidney grille angles forwards and extends down almost to the lower edge of the front apron. A horizontal mesh structure, similar to what has appeared on other recent BMW M series models, features within the kidney grille. It’s a large coupe; length has increased by 128 millimetres to 4768mm, width by 27mm… Read more

It adopted the BMW ConnectedDrive system, which combines numerous digital features that provide drivers access to a suite of constantly updated services and apps, as the platform to deliver the message via the vehicles’ centre-mounted display screens. The message read: “BMW… Read more

2020 BMW Z4 M40i REVIEW

BMW Z4 M40i Roadster is a genuine sports machine with superb styling, serious punch from a straight-six engine and – of course – it’s driven through the rear wheels. This can be a practical daily driver, even when the weather is threatening. The roof can be raised or lowered in just 10 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. It is stored above the boot without intruding into cargo space. At 281 litres, luggage capacity is half as much again as the previous Z4. Still not huge but it can… Read more

BMW 1 SERIES 2011 – 2018

2015 BMW 125i

The smallest vehicle in the BMW car range, the 1 Series is aimed at those who enjoy driving, rather than people who treat driving as a chore. It features excellent engines driving the rear wheels. A downside is that rear-drive steals cabin and boot space as its engine / transmission is mounted longitudinally rather than sideways, so it encroaches into the passenger area. There’s good legroom in the front seats, though foot-width is restricted by the gearbox housing. The back seats are fine for kids, but if you carry adults… Read more

It also now aligns the Z4 M40i with fellow M Performance models M340i xDrive, X3 M40i and X4 M40i, which feature the 285kW version of the famed BMW TwinPower Turbo straight six powerplant. The powertrain… Read more

BMW 507 SPORTS

1955 BMW 507 V8 Touring Sport

Whilst BMW is today considered to be one of the finest marques, this was not always the case. In the 1920s BMW made aero engines and motorcycles before beginning licensed production of the Austin Seven in 1929. The company’s original design arrived in 1934 and two years later it established its credentials with the 328, which was probably the best all-round sports car of the day. After World War II the firm’s major plant in East Germany was nationalised and eventually made the unloved Wartburgs. The Munich factory in West… Read more

BMW became an earl adopter of electric vehicles, launching the i3 in Australia in late 2014 with a 60 Ah (Amp-hour) battery capable of taking the car 140 kilometres on a single charge, depending on driving conditions. A year later, with a two-cylinder petrol engine range extender fitted to hold the battery – but not increase its range, the distance was increased to about 320 km. The downside of the petrol unit (borrowed from a BMW motorbike engine) was added weight, a higher price and the introduction of exhaust emissions…. Read more
