The Aston Martin Vantage F1 Edition celebrates the British marque’s return to Formula 1 for the first time in over 60 years. It sits at the top of the Vantage model line and is offered as a coupe and roadster.
It is a development of the Vantage as an Official Safety Car of Formula 1, but revised to let it be driven on the road. Aston Martin describes it as the fastest and most focused Vantage ever.
Aston Martin’s Chief Executive Officer, Tobias Moers, told his engineers that their task was to develop significant performance enhancements. But said it had to done without compromising its on-road capabilities.
The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 has had its power increased by 25PS to a 535PS. Peak torque is unchanged at 685Nm, but that peak is sustained for longer to further increase tractability for on-road driving. The eight-speed automatic transmission has optimised torque cut during upshifts that reduces shift times.
Underbody modifications increase front structural stiffness for a further improvement in steering feel and response.
The wheels have gone up from 20 inches on the regular Vantage to 21 inches. The tyres have been developed by Pirelli.
A comprehensive aero kit is designed to give positive front and rear downforce. There’s a full-width front splitter, front dive planes and underbody turning vanes. At the rear there’s a new wing but the diffuser remains unchanged.
The Vantage F1 Edition can be ordered in the same colour scheme as the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team car, as well as the Official Safety Car of Formula 1.
Other colour options include Jet Black and Lunar White, all complemented by a Solid Matte Dark Grey racing graphic.
Inside the Vantage F1 Edition features new Obsidian Black Leather and Phantom Grey Alcantara upholstery and trim, with a choice of Lime Green, Obsidian Black, Wolf Grey or Spicy Red contrast stripe and stitching.
