STUNNING NEW BMW 8 SERIES COUPE

Detailed official photographs of the new BMW 8 Series Coupe have finally been released. The big Coupe itself won’t be launched in Germany until November this year and is unlikely to reach us Downunder for several months after that. The most distinctive feature of the big Bimmer Coupe’s styling is the roofline flowing into the rear with a distinctive “double-bubble” tail. Slim headlights flank a very large kidney-grille. Slim is again the name of the game in the rear lights that sit in a large aerodynamic tail. The deep indentations… Read more

2018 BMW 630i M SPORT GRAN TURISMO

The most commonly-asked question of motoring journalists is, “What’s your favourite car?” Which leads to a dilemma. Do you tell them the truth – and generally disappoint them – by saying that it varies according to the circumstances and location in which it’s to be driven. Around the inner city it would be small economical hybrid; on the motorway a comfortable cruiser; off-road, a rugged 4WD or ute. Or to tell a little white lie and give them what you know they really want to hear – Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche…… Read more

BMW’S SPORTY ELECTRIC CITY CAR

The good folks at BMW just couldn’t help themselves. Their i3 electric city car is clearly their vision of the future … but BMW has a long history of sporting motoring. So the i3 engineers and stylists couldn’t resist designing a sports version, tagged, without a great deal of imagination, the i3s. We reckon there’s a strong chance that the engineers from the BMW i8 supercar section of the i Division had a finger in the pie as well. And we wonder if the revheads from M Division called in… Read more

2018 BMW X2 sDrive 20i REVIEW

BMW’s latest addition to its Australian stable, the gorgeous to look at X2, has quickly created a ripple of excitement in the small SUV space. The upmarket German marque prefers to call it a sports activity coupe (SAC), much in line with its X4 and X6, but it looks rather different from BMW’s other SUV offerings – and we like that. The manufacturer is hopeful X2’s looks will be a worthy weapon in the fight to garner conquest sales, appealing to new buyers who may find their allegiance to other… Read more

NEW 2018 BMW M5

New BMW M5 has arrived Downunder and is fascinating in that it has the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system to give it full-on track day potential. Yet, if you push some different buttons it gives you the comfort expected of a luxurious high-speed sports sedan. Power from new M5 comes from the latest version of BMW’s 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine which generates 600 horsepower (441kW). Torque of a big 750 Nm is there from just 1800rpm and remains on tap the way to 5600rpm. Performance is rated to go from zero… Read more

2018 BMW M4 PURE REVIEW

BMW M3 is arguably the hero car in the German marque’s lineup. Okay, so there are other M models and even the i8 hybrid supercar, but there’s something special about a smallish four-door sedan that can take on, and beat, much more expensive machines on a day-to-day basis. Once upon a time the BMW M4 two-door coupe would have been called the M3 coupe, but the revised naming system from Bavaria gives the sporty-bodied models even-numbered designations. But enough with the semantics, let’s take a look at the special BMW… Read more

BMW X2 BREAKS NEW GROUND

The all-new BMW X2 Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) is based on the BMW X1’s platform. The SAC tag indicates that it’s not really an SUV with all that suggests in the way of off-road action. Indeed it would be good to see others follow the German marque’s use of SAC as more and more vehicles with that title are really only tall hatchbacks or, in this case, five-door coupes. Styling is the biggest feature of any coupe and the boys and girls at BMW have taken bold moves with the… Read more

Only 300 BMW M4 Convertible Edition 30 Years are being made, all with the M Competition Package. It produces 450 horsepower, 331… Read more
