FORD TAKES ACTIVE STEPS TO CROSS OVER

The automotive industry has taken rather tentative steps when it comes to the so-called crossovers, prime examples being the Subaru XV, Citroen C3 Aircross and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, carrying the banner for the compact hatchback/SUV cross breed. In some markets, Australian included, a crossover is defined as a hatchback with raised ride height and SUV-like styling. Now Ford has ‘crossed over’ with the Active being added to its Focus family. This means the expanded Focus range starts at $25,990 for the Trend and tops out at $34,990 for the Titanium…. Read more

FORD MODEL Y

Whilst the Ford Model T established Ford as a dominant marque in America the Ford Model Y was the single model which launched Ford-UK on its way to market leadership. Before the 1930s, Ford-UK business was devoted to the assembly of American models such as the Model T and Model A. With the onset of the Depression in Europe Ford needed something smaller, cheaper and produced locally… Read more

Excellent… The latest iteration of the Mustang, launched Downunder in December 1015 comes in two versions, coupe and convertible, powered by either a 5.0-litre V8 or four-cylinder 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine, the former a nod to the 20th… Read more

Ford Endura is very much set up for American drivers who tend to have different tastes to Aussie ones. see the Driving section of this review to get our opinion after spending a week behind the wheel… Read more

FORD FOCUS 2011 – 2018

2015 Ford Focus ST

Ford Focus is a small-medium European model that has never had the success it deserves in Australia. In its market segment it struggles to sell a tenth of the number of the market leader in its class, the Toyota Corolla. The Mazda3 and Hyundai i30 also trump the Ford by large numbers. Why? Principally because dual-clutch automatics, sold from 2011 till 2015 had many problems and these led to the complete car being given a poor reputation. See our What To Look For section). The dual-clutch was replaced by a… Read more
