UPDATED GENESIS GV80 NOW COMES AS A (SORT OF)  COUPE

Genesis GV80 Coupe

Genesis has unveiled the upgraded range of its GV80 SUV and added a coupe variant to the range.

You may well ask how a tall-boxy five-door SUV can merge with a low-slung two-door coupe.

It certainly takes a bit of imagination. Think of it as an SUV hatchback cross and it makes more sense. But, what’s in a name?

Genesis says the SUV/Coupe concept combines the practicality of an SUV with the dynamism of a sports car. Of perhaps greater interest, the Coupe represents a preview of bigger things to come – more emotional, performance-oriented models.

The flagship model in the Genesis range, GV80 has been on sale here since 2021. The refreshed 2025 model comes with a newly designed Double Mesh G-Matrix Crest Grille flanked by signature Two-Line headlights.

In addition to the coupe-inspired roofline changes from the GV80 Coupe gets bespoke interior styling elements, including real carbon fibre trim, a flat-bottom steering wheel, contrast stitching and seatbelts, and aluminium pedals.

The Coupe also gets bespoke exterior styling featuring exclusive 22-inch alloy wheels, front bumper, dual exhaust tips and rear spoiler, and Additional Sport+ Drive mode and Flex Brake mode selection.

The MY2025 GV80 SUV is available with either a seven-seat cabin or an optional six-seat layout, which gives second-row occupants individual captain’s chairs. The GV80 Coupe only comes as a five-seater.

It also comes with a range of new technologies, including an array of safety and convenience features, and refreshed styling that continues to embody the Genesis Athletic Elegance design philosophy.

Previous 2.5-litre turbo-petrol and 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engines have been dropped and all GV80 variants now come with the most popular 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine.

It produces 279kW and 530Nm, uses 11.7L/100km on the official combined cycle, and powers 2025 GV80 from rest to 100km/h in 5.6 seconds (5.7 seconds for GV80 Coupe).

A Luxury Pack that was previously an option but with an uptake of 95 percent is now standard.

An expanded selection of customisation and personalisation options for 2025 GV80 brings further choice for customers, the majority of whom build-to-order. These include 11 exterior colours, 11 interior colours and 5 trim garnishes.

In line with the Genesis brand’s commitment to safety, 2025 GV80 features a suite of 10 airbags, including a front-centre side airbag.
