Jolion is the smallest of Haval’s SUVs and by virtue of this fact it is also the cheapest. The range was expanded with the addition of a sporty S model in late November that, with a swag of black bits, sounds a lot like the earlier Vanta. MORE POWER, LESS FUEL FROM NEW HAVAL JOLION S

Chinese carmaker GMW / Haval has added a new variant to its Jolion small SUV that provides extra grunt but uses less fuel than the other models in its range. The new Jolion S gets these twin benefits a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which delivers 130kW and 270Nm, a 20kW / 50Nm increase over the rest of the Jolion range. Five years ago I wrote that the Haval H6 was the best Chinese-built cat that I had driven so far. Designed by Frenchman Pierre Leclercq, who penned BMW’s X6 the mid-sized SUV impressed with its contemporary muscular design, 2.0-litre turbo, twin-clutch auto and excellent fit and finish. GWM JOLION HYBRID DETAILS

GWM Australia has provided details of its Jolion Hybrid Electric Vehicles. It will be powered by an all-new 1.5-litre 4G15H Hybrid engine combined with a dedicated hybrid transmission. The combined output of the two power sources will be 139 kW and 375 Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is rated 5.0 litres per 100km. Jolion is the latest offering in an expanding range of SUVs from Chinese manufacturer Haval GWM. By the way, Jolion means ‘first love’ in Chinese.
