OFF-ROAD WITH CLARKSON, HAMMOND & MAY

“Off-Road with Clarkson, Hammond & May” is a book that shares the wild highs, lows and laughter of three clever, funny, and very stupid motoring journalists.

For over 12 years the book’s author Phillipa Sage worked alongside Clarkson, Hammond and May as their personal assistant, gofer, and fixer where she saw the three at their best and, hilariously, at their worst. With an enormous budget, they travelled like rock stars, taking their brand of motoring madness to 18 countries and to over two million fans in arenas from New Zealand to Norway, including Australia.

They and their ‘Bubble’ family relaxed in luxury resorts entertaining themselves with pool parties, jet skis, drinking and motorboat cruises. Take an exclusive look at the extravagant lives of these stupid, naughty and incredibly talented boys.

Phillipa Sage

Phillipa Sage worked in the motoring industry for over 20 years, supporting, producing and managing live events for the marketing departments of major motor manufacturers and went on to become a key member of the production team for Top Gear Live. She was also part of the crew who produced The Grand Tour for Amazon.

Phillipa had a personal relationship with Jeremy Clarkson and they officially became a couple in 2011. Their relationship ended in 2017.

COMMENT by EWAN KENNEDY
A most enjoyable book written in bright and cheery style by the woman who knows the presenters very well. It covers the world tour including Australia, where there were some unusual incidents.

It doesn’t pull any punches and leaves little doubt that Clarkson can be an extremely unpleasant man at times. (I was tempted to use a much stronger word than “unpleasant” here but it’s likely the censors would have struck it out.)

For some reason Rolls-Royce is always written as Rolls Royce, without the important hyphen. The three presenters praise these prestigious cars time after time. But it’s hard to imagine they didn’t see the name and realise their mistake. Hmm… is something we don’t know about happening here?
