A sporty new G15 Pure SP variant has been introduced to the Mazda2 range. It builds on the G15 Pure grade and has black 16-inch alloy wheels, black exterior mirrors, a black grille and chrome exhaust extension. Inside there’s black cloth upholstery with red trim.
Platinum Quartz Metallic is new to both Mazda2 Sedan and Hatch ranges. Polymetal Grey, already offered on the Hatch, is now optional for the sedan.
The updated Mazda2 will go on sale at a date yet to be announced, other than that it’s toward the end of 2021.
Powering the Mazda2 is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 82kW and 144Nm. Though other models come with a choice between six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic the G15 Pure SP will be available only as an automatic.
Mazda Australia Managing Director, Vinesh Bhindi, said the new grade will elevate the G15 Pure grade, which accounts for over half of Mazda2’s 2021 sales.
“In 2021 Mazda2 has demonstrated its ongoing appeal and strong safety credentials, with increased sales and share in the light vehicle segment,” said Mazda Australia Managing Director, Vinesh Bhindi.
