For the 2022 season the popular Mazda CX-5 has a facelift and improved comfort.
Mazda Australia Managing Director, Vinesh Bhindi, said “Versatility is synonymous with
Mazda CX-5, and this update bolsters that quality; more uniquely defined grades grow the
potential for customers to find their perfect fit within the range, selecting the vehicle that
best suits their style and lifestyle”.
“It’s a significant update for Mazda CX-5, which remains an Aussie favourite and a
mainstay in the Mazda line-up, soon to be joined by the first of Mazda’s new-generation
large platform SUVs arriving in 2022 – the Mazda CX-60.
“With vehicle supply returning to pre-pandemic levels, Mazda is well placed to meet
customer demand for new Mazda CX-5 and other models.”
The updated Mazda CX-5 applies matured Kodo Design principles, eschewing character
lines in favour of reflective body surfaces. Common to all grades is a new signature and
front guard and grille design. There are also headlight and taillight changes, with each
lamp featuring a pair of horizontally spaced, rectangular LED lights.
The top end Mazda CX-5 Akera has a more luxurious exterior, with black plastic cladding
with instead of body-coloured cladding. It has bright silver wheels.
Black highlights give a sporty look for the second to top-grade GT SP; the gloss black
signature wing, grille, mirror caps and wheels are complemented by an all-black interior
with red accents.
Mazda CX-5 Touring Active has exterior cladding on doors and front and rear bumpers to
give it what Mazda Oz says, “Outdoor spirit, enhanced further by a lime green accent on
the grille. Inside, the same lime green accents seat upholstery and air-conditioning louvres
to carry through a sense of utility and SUV toughness.”
The seats have been redesigned to help provide greater stability, the driver will appreciate
smoother acceleration with a more responsive and refreshed transmission, and
improvements to the dampening control structure and increased frame rigidity help
suppress unpleasant vibrations, reduce road noise, and provide a higher quality of ride
comfort.
Further to this, Mazda intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) will debut on Mazda CX-5,
enabling the driver to select the most appropriate drive mode to optimise driving capability
with one touch of a switch.
