Hyundai is running hard in Australia following the introduction of the i30 N hot-hatch, but the standard models are also receiving the treatment with an expanded model line-up and upgraded features.
Engine options for Elite and Premium models now include the 120 kW 2.0-litre petrol engine, which is paired exclusively with a six-speed automatic.
A seven-speaker Infinity Premium Audio System is installed in the i30 SR Premium Premium. New to the i30 range it utilises an external amplifier aimed to deliver a fuller frequency response, accurate bass reproduction, and distortion-free sound at higher listening volumes.
A leather steering wheel and gear knob, once seen only on the higher grade models, is now standard on the i30 Active.
In a major push on the safety front Hyundai’s SmartSense pack can now be optioned for an impressively low $1750 on the i30 Go and i30 Active models, though only if the car has automatic transmission (including the dual-clutch auto).
Major features are Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW); Blind Spot Detection (BSD) with Lane Change Assist (LCA); Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Driver Attention Alert (DAA).
On the style and convenience front the SmartSense pack provides a chromed front grille. Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). Rear cooling/heating vents. Power folding door mirrors with LED side repeaters.
