Great Wall Motors (GWM) has unveiled the second variant of its Tank SUV with the
seven-seat Tank 500 joining the Tank 300 five-seater that arrived here in late-2022.
Due to go on sale in the Q2 2024 the all-new body-on-frame Tank 500 comes with a
hybrid drivetrain, advanced safety features and a variety of convenience features
such as auto reverse assist.
As with the Tank 300 its available in two grades, Lux and Ultra. Lux will be priced at
$66,490 driveaway with price and full specs of the Ultra to be confirmed prior to
launch.
Features in the Lux include faux leather seats, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat
with lumbar support, Advanced multimedia system including a 14.6-inch colour
touchscreen, with wireless CarPlay and wired Android Auto, three-zone climate
control, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree view monitor, auto parking and
auto reversing assistance.
Among the extra features in the Ultra will be Nappa-appointed seats, heated,
ventilated and massaging front seats with memory and welcome function,
heated and ventilated second row outer seats and electric folding third row,
and 12-speaker premium Infinity audio system.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol / battery hybrid with a combined output of
255 kW and a 648 Nm.
Claimed fuel economy 8.5 L/100km combined from an 80-litre fuel tank.
It’s mated to an advanced nine-speed Hybrid Automatic Transmission and full-time
4WD driveline with four drive modes: 2H, AWD, 4H and 4L.
Ground clearance is 224 mm (unloaded) with a 30-degree approach angle, 22.5-
degree breakover angle, 24-degree departure angle and 800 mm wading depth.
Towing capacity is 3000kg braked and 750 kg unbraked.
