Motoring enthusiasts rarely agree on anything but whenever the question, “What’s the
world’s cutest ever car?” arises one name invariably makes the short list – the Fiat 500.
In its current iconic form, the Fiat 500, appropriately nicknamed Bambino, as in baby, was
introduced in 1957. Now, 66 years later, the just-released MY23 model, the Dolcevita –
Italian for the sweet life, although several sizes larger, is clearly recognizable as a
descendant.
The Dolcevita first sold here in 2021 as a special edition but was subsequently added as a
permanent model in the 500 range. Now, with the line-up now consolidated, it’s the only
model.
It’s available now at Fiat dealerships, priced from $27,220 plus on-road costs.
External features include a fixed glass roof with sun blind, LED daytime running lamps,
halogen fog lights, power adjustable heated exterior mirrors and chrome exterior highlights
With the 2023 upgrade, the 500 Dolcevita, gets newly-designed black fabric seats with Fiat
monogrammed. The interior can be personalised with the choice of black or ivory steering
wheel and surrounding accents.
Dolcevita is equipped with automatic climate control, tyre pressure monitoring system,
cruise control, speed limiter, rear parking sensors as well as dusk and rain sensors.
Infotainment features include a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster display, 7-Inch touchscreen
with AM/FM/DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Bluetooth USB
Media Management, integrated voice control.
Eight colours are available: Gelato White, Bi Colour White and Black, Passione Red,
Sicilla Orange, Pompei Grey, Rugiada Green, Blu Ottanio and Vesuvio Black
Dolcevita has been enhanced with elements of the previous Lusso option pack, now as
standard, such as the tinted rear and side windows.
Orders can be placed through the Fiat website (fiat.com.au) or at any Fiat dealership.
We’re looking to test drive this little charmer later this year or in early 2024 and will do our
normal road test report at that time.
