It will be available in Australia from late May 2019, launching with the $119,900 BMW X7 xDrive30d, and the X7 M50d at $169,900. On-road charges have to be factored in.
BMW X7 is a large seven-seater and we are assured all seats are spacious. There’s a major emphasis on luxury with electronically adjustable backrests and seat positions on all seats.
The X7 xDrive30d’s sport seats include front seat heating, adjustable side bolstering and front-row lumbar support. Standard in the X7 M50d are Comfort seats with memory function for driver and front passenger, as well as lumbar support.
Premium ‘Vernasca’ leather upholstery comes standard on both. Customers also have access to the BMW Individual catalogue and can opt to choose high quality leather ‘Merino’ trim for further customisation.
A standard four-zone climate control ensures ample ventilation throughout the cabin. A five-zone climate control can be optioned to extend control settings to the third row, located on the roof panel.
A total of seven USB connection points for Type C and Type A fittings are installed and there’s a standard wireless charging tray.
BMW’s Connect Command function lets occupants check the journey’s route via the BMW Connected app, as well as adjust on-board entertainment programme and climate control settings.
A fascinating option is the ‘CraftedClarity’ application, which includes a handmade diamond-cut glass gear selector, embellished iDrive Controller and audio system control.
BMW X7 xDrive30d has a TwinPower twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder diesel engine with variable turbine geometry. It has up to 195 kW of power and 620 Nm of torque to help it do the zero to100 km/h sprint in 7.0 seconds.
The X7 M50d uses a TwinPower quad-turbocharged inline six-cylinder diesel engine with two variable-vane turbines and two conventional turbines. It produces 294 kW and 760 Nm to launch it to 100 in just 5.4 seconds.
Both have an eight-speed Steptronic transmission and the latest generation of BMW xDrive. This intelligent all-wheel-drive system varies drive torque split between front and rear wheels to optimise traction and power efficiency.
An M Sport differential fitted on the rear axle ensures a smooth power transfer in the BMW X7 M50d. This is available to the BMW X7 xDrive30d in the xOffroad Package.
