2018 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE UPGRADES

Maserati_Quattroporte_frontMaserati Quattroporte has received a suite of change for 2018 season. The Quattroporte S version of the famed Italian company’s sedan is now powered by a new version of the Ferrari made twin-turbo V6 producing 321 kW, with torque of 580 Nm on tap all the way from 2250 to 4000 rpm. Resulting in a zero to 100 km/h time of 5.0 seconds.

Visually, changes are minimal, with the Quattroporte GranSport receiving a gloss black grille to differentiate it from other versions in the range.

Electric power steering (EPS) supersedes the previous hydraulic system. We are assured this improves steering feel as well as comfort and handling.

Driver assist and safety now include active functions like Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist, as well as Traffic Sign Recognition. This allows Maserati to offer Level 2 driving automation technology. To some autonomous driving may sound anathema, but keep in mind this is an upper luxury saloon rather than an out and out sports machine.

The central dashboard accommodates a high-res 8.4-inch touchscreen with multi-touch function. The central lower console features a rotary knob for volume and function control and phone storage compartment. The infotainment system is compatible with both the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphones.

We will further report on the latest version of the Maserati Quattroporte when we borrow one for a few days to carry out a road test.
