The car company formerly known as SsangYong has released a new model.
Now called KGM Australia, the all-new MY26 KGM Actyon SUV is the first fully developed and designed vehicle by KGM.
As well as a new name, KGM has also adopted a new slogan — “Korean built to last”.
KGM describes all-new five-seat Actyon as a modern revival of the world’s first coupe-style SUV which was discontinued in 2010.
Based on the smaller KGM Torres, its coupe-like styling sets the Actyon apart.
A unique front grille lighting design inspired by the four trigrams — Geon, Gon, Gam, and Ri — found on the Korean flag.
These symbols, representing heaven, earth, water, and fire, are subtly integrated into the design to reflect the vehicle’s Korean craftsmanship and commitment to quality.
2010 SsangYong Actyon
Actyon is powered by a 1.5-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine that produces 120kW of power and 280Nm of torque from 1500-4000 rpm.
The turbo engine is paired with a third generation Aisin six-speed automatic transmission with drive to the front wheels, and steering wheel paddle shifts.
Fuel consumption is a claimed 7.6L/100km and it produces 174g/km combined CO2.
The 20-inch wheels are shod with noise-cancelling Michelin tyres.
Two models are offered, K50 and K60, priced from $47,000 and $50,000 driveaway.
Inside, Actyon is decked out in quilted Nappa leather, with red stitching, and quality soft-touch suede material on the door panels, with dual-zone climate control.
A mix of carbon fibre and woodgrain-type finishes are complimented by ambient mood lighting, while a crystal gear selector adds the finishing touch.
The steering wheel incorporates the KGM logo along with two quick access buttons, one to activate and deactivate auto-hold and the other can be customised to select one of 13 different functions.
The front seats have eight-way power adjustment with two-way, powered lumbar support for the driver, and are heated, with the addition of cooling for the front seats.
The steering wheel is also heated.
Rear passengers score two USB ports, accessory pockets with mobile phone holders and seats that recline up to 32.5 degrees.
The more expensive K60 adds a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, rear sun blinds and wireless phone charging.
Two 12.3-inch screens sit behind a single sweeping screen to provide infotainment and instrumentation, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Actyon offers a generous 668 litres of cargo space, which expands to 1440 litres with the rear seats folded.
Access to the spacious load area is made easy with a powered tailgate, which includes hands-free, kick-motion operation.
Actyon does not carry a safety rating but includes eight airbags, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic warning, smart high beam, front and rear parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring.
