Kia has sponsored the Australian Open tennis for many years and it comes as no surprise that it has just announced some special editions to tie with the event. Indeed, the only surprise is that the South Korean giant hasn’t done it every year.
The most popular is sure to be the Kia Rafa Stinger Signature Edition. Just 75 are being built – that number to mark Rafael Nadal’s 75 singles titles to date. Each will have body decals that feature a Rafa signature, and a unique title number on an interior badge.
Based on the 200S Stinger four-cylinder turbo-petrol, the Rafa Signature has 19-inch alloys, an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the satellite navigation system, nine-speaker audio and a good looking premium brown interior.
Add an autographed Rafa tennis racquet, again with certificate of authenticity, and tennis fans will have something pretty special in their garages.
With a recommended retail of $47,990 the Rafa Signature Edition is available in Panthera Metal, Deep Chroma Blue or Aurora Black Pearl.
Sadly there are no Rafa Specials based on the the hot V6 Kia Stinger.
We can see these Rafa Specials going pretty quickly, so suggest you don’t serve up a double fault and lose time in putting your name on one.
Others in the Kia range are also being kitted out as Australia Open specials with added equipment and tennis gear, though not to the impressive extent of that on the Stinger: Kia Picanto AO edition (150 units), Kia Rio (300 units), Kia Sportage (360 petrols and 140 diesels).
