BMW promotes its cars as Ultimate Driving Machines. The German marque has a strong history in motorsport and arguably attracts even keener drivers than the other big name Germans and Brits.

So it comes as no surprise that its latest limited edition, the BMW M4 Convertible Edition 30 Years pays tribute to many sporting successes over the last three decades, such as European and German touring car championships.

Only 300 BMW M4 Convertible Edition 30 Years are being made, all with the M Competition Package. It produces 450 horsepower, 331 kW, using an M Sport exhaust system; adaptive M suspension with specific Sport mode; sporty configuration of the stability control system; and the Active M differential.

There is a choice of two tradition-steeped body colours. Macao Blue metallic gives reference to the open-top high-performance car’s debut thirty years ago. Mandarin II uni is reminiscent of the colour Dakar Yellow.

Special features include BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line trims for kidney grille surround, the M side gills, and the model lettering. Forged M light alloy 20-inch wheels come in the colour Orbit Grey matte offered exclusively for the edition model.

The Merino full leather trim, the colour scheme of which matches the vehicle body paintwork. There is a choice of the two-tone colour combinations Black/Fjord Blue and Black/Silverstone.

Contrast stitching on the headrests, M floor mats with piping in the respective contrasting colour. Interior trim strips in the version Carbon Fibre come as standard for all edition model variants.

Lettering “30 Jahre Edition” is imprinted on the doorsills and the headrests. A signet on the interior trim strip on the passenger side dashboard again has the lettering “30 Jahre Edition”, as well as the number “1/300”, giving reference to the limited series.

At this stage there are no definite plans to bring the “30 Jahre Edition” to Australia. However, local BMW PR chief Lenore Fletcher says, “We will have our hand raised very high for this vehicle. And keep in mind that ours is the highest M market, per sale unit, in the world.”

If you’re someone who has already helped put Australia into the global number one spot it might be an idea to call your favourite BMW dealer to have a chat about how to register your interest.
