PORSCHE ADDS NEW HIGH-PERFORMANCE 718s

Porsche 718 Cayman GT

Two hot new models have been added to the Porsche range; 718 Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 claim top spot in their model series. Interestingly, for the first time they share a technical base. This includes the newly developed 4.0-litre six-cylinder naturally aspirated and a six-speed manual gearbox. The boxer engine generates up to 309kW (420hp). It is based on the same engine family as the turbo engines in the current 911 Carrera model series. Both break the 300km/h top speed barrier: the 718 Spyder reaches 301 km/h, the 718… Read more

PORSCHE 944

1989 Porsche 944

In 1985 Porsche introduced a four-cylinder model, the company’s first Porsche’s front-engined family and one that finally matched up with the high-performance 911s: the 944 Turbo. The 944’s four-stroke in-line all-alloy four-cylinder engine, rated at 165kW gave at a maximum speed of over 245 km/h. With a bore and stroke of 100 x 78.9 mm the 2479 cc engine had a lower compression ratio than in a normally aspirated unit, so that it could comfortably accept the forced induction from the intercooled KKK turbocharger. A sophisticated Bosch ‘black box’ took… Read more

PORSCHE BOXSTER, CAYMAN 2012 – 2018

2015 Porsche Boxster Spyder

Porsche Boxster roadster and Cayman coupe both come from the highly regarded German maker of sports machines, being smaller, lower-cost models than the timeless Porsche 911. They are the same vehicle, except that there’s a folding roof on the Boxster and a fixed one in the Cayman. Boxster’s roof design is clever, in that the roof acts as its own cover when the top is open. Both are mid-engined, meaning the engine is installed within the wheelbase, in this case just behind the cabin and in front of the rear… Read more

2019 PORSCHE CAYENNE S

Porsche Cayenne generation three was launched in Australia in 2017. Virtually an all-new design it offers increased performance not only due to improved engines, but also reduced weight. Following the latest versions of the legendary 911 and the Panamera sedan, the new Cayenne uses a combination of alloys, aluminium and steel to keep weight down at the same time as strength is further improved. Fascinatingly, a lithium-ion polymer starter battery accounts for a weight saving of 10 kg over the predecessor. We have just enjoyed an excellent week in the… Read more

This is reason enough to take a look back at the previous seven generations. Although practically… Read more

The cabriolet version of the iconic Porsche 911 will soon join the recently announced Coupe version. The soft top has a glass rear window and can be opened or closed at speeds up to 50 km/h in just 12 seconds.
