MASERATI HOSPITALITY AT ITS BEST

Maserati GranCabrio

THE EARLY DAYS My introduction to Maserati hospitality dates way back to the mid 1980s, when a very Italian gentleman called Tony Graziani invited me to his Maserati showroom in Woolloomooloo. Tucked away in a quiet backstreet behind the upmarket auto-ally of William Street, Sydney it looked, felt and had all the aroma of an Italian coffee shop. Close your eyes and you could imagine you were in downtown Rome. Maserati owners and would-be owners mixed sipped on an extensive variety of coffees, not to mention enjoying other drinks, told… Read more

MASERATI LEVANTE IS A GENUINE OFF-ROADER

When Maserati invited me to spend a full day at Sydney MotorSport Park (nee Eastern Creek Raceway) I looked forward to fun times blasting around the tricky 4.5km road track. Which I did… What I didn’t expect was having fun at crawling speeds in a brace of Maserati Levante 4WDs. Yes, I’ve used the term 4WD here, Levante isn’t just a pretty on-road station wagon, it leans so much in the direction of capable SUV that I’ve granted it my personal top title of 4WD. This Italian masterpiece tackled serious… Read more

It is a detuned version engine in the range-topping Maserati Levante S that has 430 hp (321 kW) and 580 Nm. Drive is through an eight-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels with… Read more

MASERATI LEVANTE S: DELIGHTFULLY AURAL ENGINE

Okay, I’m going to cut straight to the chase in answer the question I’ve been bombarded with, ”Does the new petrol Levante sound like a Maserati?” Yes, it does! There’s something about the purposeful roar of this Maserati-designed Ferrari-built engine that makes all car lovers smile with joy. When Maserati launched its Levante SUV in Australia in 2017 it came only with a diesel engine. At that time all petrol Levantes had the steering wheel on the wrong side for Australia. A silly mistake that has now been rectified. So,… Read more

Just when you thought nothing could be crazier than the snowboarding aerobatics at the Winter Olympics comes the setting of a new Guinness World Record for, ‘fastest speed on a snowboard towed by a vehicle’ at an amazing 149.65 km/h. British snowboard sensation Jamie Barrow was towed behind a Maserati Levante S to set the record on a frozen lake at St Moritz in Switzerland. They would love to have reached 150 km/h, with one run actually getting to 151.57 km/h, but for obvious reasons the Word Record rules require… Read more

While the Sport is aimed at the sporty driver who doesn’t want to take their car to extremes, the GranTurismo MC, for Maserati Corse, is there for the serious driver who loves high-performance Italian machines. A significant restyle of the GranTourismo is more… Read more
