LEXUS LC CONVERTIBLE

Fewer than 10 examples of the new Lexus LC Convertible Limited Editions will be offered in Australia to introduce us to this latest model from the upmarket Japanese company. They will be finished in Structural Blue exterior colour complemented by an exclusive, nautical white-and-blue semi-aniline leather-accented interior. Structural Blue is a fascinating paint. Compared with existing blue pigments – where light is absorbed once and blue light reflected – a multi-layer construction enhances the interference effect on the light to reflect higher luminescence and saturation. This special colour in the… Read more

LEXUS NX 300 LOGS IN WITH SAFETY BOOST

The Lexus NX 300 and I go back a long way – almost 5000 kilometres, to be exact, for that was the distance a new NX 300h petrol / electric hybrid SUV carried two of us from the Gold Coast to Townsville and back more than five years ago. While we travelled north up the coast road, the return trip was via inland Queensland through Charters Towers, Hughenden, Winton, Longreach, Emerald, the Darling Downs and home. Recently I was reacquainted with the Lexus sports utility vehicles, not in hybrid form,… Read more

LEXUS LS 500 HYBRID IS A SLEEK FOUR-DOOR SEDAN

With buyers moving en masse away from conventional passenger cars into taller and boxier SUVs many designers of the sedans and wagons, keen to provide a point of difference, are moving to lower and sleeker lines. The latest (fifth generation) version of the Lexus flagship LS series is a perfect example of this. The LS 500 sedan was built on the same platform as the LC 500 coupe and mirrors that car’s sporty profile in a major change to its predecessor’s conservative limousine lines. For the first time since the… Read more

LEXUS LS 2007 – 2018

2007 Lexus IS460

In 1989 the Lexus LS400 was the first Japanese car to tackle the topline versions of upmarket German and British saloon cars. It was an impressive piece of engineering from day one. Lexus tells us ‘LS’ stands for Luxury Sports, however there’s a lot more luxury than sport. While the handling is certainly safe it doesn’t provide the semi-sporty feeling of the Europeans. The most noticeable feature of the Lexus LS series is their near-silence and impressive ride comfort. Topline materials are used throughout and they’re built to an immaculate… Read more
