BMW has announced details of new flagship models for its X5 and X7 SUVs each with upgraded 4.4-litre V8 engines. The engines are based on the company’s TwinPower Turbo technology and generate up to 390 kW of power from 5500 rpm and 750 Nm of torque between 1800 and 4600 revs. As a result, the new BMW X5 M50i is able to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and the X7 M50i in 4.7 seconds. BMW has allocated just eight for the M850i First Edition Coupes for Australia. That’s eight out of 400 being sold globally. All will be painted in BMW Individual Frozen Barcelona Blue metallic paint and rides on Jet Black 20-inch BMW M light alloy wheels in a Y-spoke design. BMW has announced specifications and pricing for the latest version of the 7 Series due for release here in June. In days gone by it would have been called an ‘upgrade’ or a ‘facelift’ but BMW uses the acronym LCI, for ‘Life Cycle Impulse’. BMW Group Australia has announced Australian pricing and specification for the first ever BMW X7 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). It will be available in Australia from late May 2019, launching with the $119,900 BMW X7 xDrive30d, and the X7 M50d at $169,900. On-road charges have to be factored in.
